Years ago, the City of Oaktown changed the name of E. 14th Street to International Blvd, as indeed it runs through one of the most ethnically diverse residential areas in the world. The funny thing is, E. 14th St was the only numbered “street” that ever made it through East Oakland to the San Leandro border. Even more strange, it never stopped at the border, but makes it all the way south to Hayward as “E. 14th” until it becomes Mission Blvd down there. So although it is no longer called E. 14th St. in Oakland, it has retained its original name in San Leandro. Go figure. You’d think San Leandro might have liked to have changed the name too.

Well, just past the border into San Leandro is a Mexican market/taqueria, the type of which seems more common the more south of Oakland one goes. Los Pericos Market & Taqueria is actually a San Leandro chain of markets sprawled down E. 14th. This one is just an earshot from Oakland. Their food is excellent, prices good, and salsa bar full of amazing options.
