Inaugural Spirit Airlines Flight at Oakland International Airport
oaktownman was lucky enough to be present at the rare inauguration of a new airline to service Oakland. Spirit Airlines has been around for a while, but as of August 18th they are now flying Oakland with 3 flights a day to and from Las Vegas.
Oakland International Airport is known all over as one of the most convenient places anywhere to catch a plane. Now there’s a new option for those who like to travel to Las Vegas and beyond, and even Southwest (who use OAK as one of their major hubs) has slashed prices to LAV in response.

The media was present, including the flip and camera phone brigade (oaktownman included). Pictured with the Vegas acts is Port of Oakland president Omar R. Benjamin.
